Upon moving to the Houston area in late 2016, we were overwhelmed by the number of homeless dogs in the area.  When we investigated the local shelters, we became even more horrified to learn of the incredibly high euthanasia rates.  It was unlike anything we had ever seen while living in Massachusetts where there is virtually no stray pet problem, and people wait in line hours for the opportunity to adopt a dog from a local shelter.

We reached out to the Massachusetts shelters we had adopted from over the years, and asked for their partnership as a receiving group for Houston dogs.  These shelters have long received transports of pups from the South, and have incredible success in quickly finding them loving, forever homes.  Pre-adoption, the shelters also spay or neuter and microchip each dog to ensure unwanted litters and lost dogs are not an issue.

After learning that the rescue community in Houston is primarily comprised of small, grass-roots groups each doing what they can to save as many dogs as they can afford to, we decided to offer to partner with them, pool our resources and pups, and coordinate cost-effective, large transports North.  The reception both in Houston and Massachusetts has been positive, collaborative and exciting.

We hope you’ll consider joining our effort by making a donation to help cover the cost of vet care, transport and pre-euthanasia shelter rescue.  100% of your donation will go directly to the dog(s), and you’ll receive updates on exactly how your money was used.  Of course, since we are a non-profit 501(c)3, your donation is also 100% tax deductible.
